It contains sulfur, sodium and chloride (a slightly alkaline, hypotonic high-temperature hot spring), making it one of the top hot springs in Japan for skin beautifying effect. It’s known as a bath for beauty and longevity because bathing in it makes your skin smooth and rejuvenates it while also warming your body from the core, staying with you for an extended period of time.
The exfoliating effect makes your skin smooth. The bleaching and sterilizing effect gives you beautiful light skin.

The water at Tsukioka Onsen is such a beautiful emerald green that many people mistakenly think it’s from bath additives. It is said to turn seven different colors but is usually a vivid emerald green. Sometimes you’ll find it a milky white color... The color changes subtly depending on the season and the temperature and climate conditions of the day.
